Zoheb Hassan Goes Boom Boom On Disco Deewane And Shows His Discontent
Pop icon Zoheb Hassan is back in the news again and this time, he is extremely unhappy with the Pakistan Super League for the right reasons. A song by Nazia – Zoheb from the 1980s Disco Deewane was performed by Aima Baig and Shuja Haider at the PSL 4 Opening Ceremony but no one including the performers bothered to ask for the permission of Zoheb Hassan who owns the rights to all the songs by the dynamic duo.
The Dosti crooner showed resentment on social media and slammed them for using Nazia’s popular song without due approval. “I was shocked to see that a reputable platform like PSL used our track Disco Deewane without our prior permission. Outright infringement of intellectual property should be condemned and I am going to take a legal stand on this one.”
In an exclusive chat with Hit In Pakistan, Zoheb Hassan termed it shocking and said that it was saddening that no one respects copyright laws. “Intellectual property has to be respected and acknowledged across the board; it is not just me that felt violated but there are multiple stakeholders that need to be taken on board and due written permissions need to be secured. Had the PSL organizers asked me for approval, I wouldn’t have refused because PSL is important for Pakistan and it projects a positive image of Pakistan, it is important for me too.’
