Team South Africa Strikes Form With Amla, Plessis

Team South Africa’s late resurgence sinks Sri Lanka in a crucial tie

Team South Africa had nothing to lose as they were not in contention for a place in last four; and when that’s the case, good teams regain form. For the Proteas, Hashim Amla and Skipper Faf du Plessis scored an unbeaten 175 runs for the second wicket to register their second win of the tournament. The loss also ensured that Pakistan stays in contention for a place in the last four, and their match against Afghanistan will decide their fate.

Team South Africa was on fire from the very first ball!

The Sri Lankans were in trouble from the very first ball as they lost their skipper to Rabada as soon as the match started. The Islanders lost wickets at regular intervals and were lucky enough to put 203 runs on the board. The South African bowlers were in full form as Morris and Pretorius took 3 wickets each to dent the hopes of Sri Lankan fans.

It was South Africa’s day to dominate with the bat!

The famed South African batting clicked too late to qualify for the last four of the World Cup, but it was a good sight to see them bat. Hashim Amla regained his confidence and hit the ball all over the place. Captain Faf du Plessis was on top of his game and would have scored a century had the target been a little higher. He remained unbeaten at 96 while Hashim Amla contributed with 80 runs to the South African score.
