Played in Canberra, the match saw Steve Smith stand tall against Pakistani bowlers as he scored 80 off 51 balls. The win helped the Aussies take a one-nil lead in the three-match series, the first match of which ended without a result.
Iftikhar Ahmed, Babar Azam helped Pakistan post 150/6
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat against Australia, but with mixed results. Iftikhar Ahmed’s unbeaten 62 and skipper Babar Azam’s 50 were the highlights of the Pakistani innings. The rest of the batsmen faltered including Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail, and Asif Ali. The three out-of-form players came and went without making an impression. Had it not been for Iftikhar’s 34-ball 62, Pakistan would not have made past 120. Ashton Agar was the most successful bowler for the hosts with 2 crucial wickets.

Australian batsmen are known for their aggressive run-scoring and they did exactly that against Pakistan. Steve Smith scored 80 runs off 51 balls as they reached the target in the penultimate over. His innings consisted of shots all around the ground as if he knew he could do no wrong. Wahab Riaz went for 33 runs in his 3 overs while Aamir’s 3.3 went for 32. The rest of the bowlers also went for runs with the exception of Shadab Khan.
