The fourth edition of Pakistan Super League is inching towards its conclusion in the United Arab Emirates with Quetta Gladiators leading the Points Table with 12 points. Sarfraz Ahmed’s men clobbered Darren Sammy’s Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets on Monday to grab the first position from the former champions, who now stand at second position with ten points after 8 matches.
Besides Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans, all the teams in the league have played 8 matches each. Defending champions Islamabad United is tied at 8 points with Karachi Kings while Lahore Qalandars needs a win to make it 8 points out of as many matches, and maybe climb up to the third position. Multan Sultans is the only team in the tournament that has no chance of making it to the second round, having won just 2 matches out of 9.
Today, Lahore Qalandars will face of Peshawar Zalmi in their last match in Abu Dhabi at 4:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time while Quetta Gladiators will lock horns with Islamabad United at 9 PM. In case of victory, teams from Quetta and Peshawar will retain the top two positions while Islamabad will maintain the third position after beating Lahore. IN case of an upset win, Lahore might actually displace Islamabad from the third position and that will change the dynamics of the Points Table ahead of the league’s Karachi leg starting 9th March.
