PM Announces Major Cabinet Reshuffle

It is never truly a dull day in the life of an average Pakistani. From chai dhaabas to corporate offices, you would find people discussing the latest political happenings in the country and give their own verdict on how the Government should be run.

The most important decisions are, of course, taken by the Prime Minister himself and this is exactly what happened late last evening when the PM house shook the entire fabric of the Government by issuing a notification concerning a major cabinet reshuffle.

“Fawad Chaudhry has been asked to resign as minister for information and broadcasting”

According to the notification, Fawad Chaudhry has been asked to resign from the post of federal minister for information and broadcasting. He has been appointed as the science and technology minister instead.

Moreover, several other ministers’ portfolios have also been moved around, which includes the sacking of Ghulam Sarwar as the petroleum minister and given the position of the aviation minister.

“Ijaz Ahmed Shah has been appointed as the interior minister”

Ijaz Ahmed Shah has been appointed as the interior minister while Sheharyar Afridi has been given the ministry of states and frontier regions (SAFRON).

Firdous Ashiq Awan has been appointed as the special assistant to the PM on information, Hafeez Sheikh as the special assistant to the PM on economic affairs and Dr. Zafarullah Mirza as the special assistant to the PM on health.

“Azam Swati becomes federal minister for parliamentary affairs”

Azam Swati has been appointed as federal minister for parliamentary affairs.

Earlier in the evening, Asad Umar resigned from his post as Finance Minister as part of a major reshuffle planned by the PM house. He declined the position of energy minister.

Now we all wait with bated breath to see how this new cabinet performs.
