Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir to make Essex return this year

Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir will rejoin English county Essex for part of this summer’s T20 Blast campaign. The 26-year-old ended with 28 wickets for the club in first-class and T20 competition during a stint two years back and will be available for eight group matches before moving onto the Caribbean Premier League.

Amir helped Essex win the first-class County Championship in 2017 and took career-best figures of 10 for 72 against Yorkshire at Scarborough during the stint.  The left-armer, who will be representing Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League Season 4, will make his return for Essex through their opening match against Middlesex on 18 July. He will then miss their next two matches because of family commitments but then stay with them till 16 August.

The return to England will help the county as the team will benefit from Amir’s experience of representing Pakistan in over three dozen tests, nearly 50 ODIs and over 40 T20Is with the latest one being played earlier this week. With 119 Test wickets, 60 in ODIs and 55 in T20Is, Amir is Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in all formats and even helped his side to victory in Champions Trophy that too was played in England.
