Winning Captain Eoin Morgan To Miss Crucial Match On Friday
England Captain Eoin Morgan has been handed a one-match suspension by ICC.
Bad things are always happening to Pakistan whenever they tour England for a series, be it Tests or ODIs. The players were charged with ball tampering allegations in the infamous Oval Test in 2006. Three players including Captain Salman Butt was found guilty of spot-fixing at the Lord’s, four years later.

“ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson hands one-match suspension to Eoin Morgan”
However, it is the English team that is at the receiving end this time around. Their captain Eoin Morgan was handed a one-match suspension by the ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson. It is due to the team’s slow over-rate in the third ODI in Bristol.

The hosts are still 2-0 up in the five-match ODI series against Pakistan after three ODIs and will have to take the field without their skipper at Trent Bridge with Vice Captain Jos Buttler leading the side.

Putting Pakistan to bat first, English bowlers took as many as four hours to bowl their fifty overs and were deemed to be two overs short by the match referee. In accordance with Article 2.22.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players, he took imposed the sanction after taking everything from playing condition into consideration. In short, Imam ul Haq’s 151 couldn’t win Pakistan the match, but caused the England captain’s suspension.
The other members of the team will also face a 20% cut in their fee
This is Eoin Morgan’s second such infraction within a 12-month period; he was found guilty of a similar offense last February and had to accept the ban as well as a fine of 40% of his match fee. The other members of the playing XI will also face a 20% cut in their fee as per the ICC regulations.

“Jonny Bairstow Also Pulled Up After The Match”
And then there was the Man of the Match at Bristol Jonny Bairstow who was also pulled up after the match by the match officials for striking the stumps with his bat after being dismissed. He breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match”.

One Demerit Point For English Batsman Bairstow’s Disciplinary Record
Eoin Morgan’s suspension is not the only bad news for England. A demerit point has been added to Bairstow’s disciplinary record making it his first offense since the introduction of the Revised Code in September 2016.
