Pakistan Day Celebrations: Nation Observes Military Might In Capital

THE 2019 PAKISTAN DAY PARADE SPELLBINDS EVERYONE!

Pakistan Day was observed throughout the country with zeal and enthusiasm to mark the historic resolution that was passed on 23rd March 1940, in Lahore. It was due to that Resolution that Pakistan came into being after a huge struggle, and gained independence from the British on 14th August 1947.

The day began with a 31-Gun salute in the federal capital, and 21 Gun-salutes in provincial capitals at dawn.

In Karachi, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah paid a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid, offered Fatiha, whereas, in Lahore, a Change of Guard ceremony was held at the Mazaar of Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal, the man who dreamt of a separate country for Muslims of South Asia.

The Military Parade

A joint military parade was held in Shakkar Parian parade ground, Islamabad that was attended by civil and military leadership alongside foreign luminaries. Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohammad was the guest of honor in the ceremony.

Alongside, Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi, Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) General Zubair, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov marked their attendance at the ceremony.

The official ceremony began with the national anthem of Pakistan which was followed by recitation of the Holy Quran. The President was then requested by Parade Commander Brigadier Naseem Anwar to initiate the proceedings. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, then led a fly-past as a salute to the President.

This was followed by sky-high trapeze by four JF-17 Thunder fighter jets of the Pakistan air force, followed by Mirage, F-7PG, and other aircrafts.

Later, President Arif Alvi addressed the ceremony, thanking Allah for granting the Muslims a separate state. He acknowledged Quaid-e-Azam’s efforts and congratulated the entire nation on Pakistan day.

“Pakistan is a reality and Pakistan is a living and a shining nation.”, he stated. He further added, “The region needs peace and not war. We need to focus on the provision of health, education, and employment. The real war is against unemployment and poverty.”

Following his speech, Pakistan Army’s contingents, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Frontier Corps, Shaheen Regiments, Pakistani Rangers, Northern Light Infantry, Azad Kashmir Girl guides and others held an overwhelming march-past. Troops from Azerbaijan, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Bahrain and Sri Lanka also accompanied the parade.

After the march-past, contingents of armored and mechanical foot soldiers paraded, including the Al-Khalid and Al Zarrar tanks, and a variety of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), howitzer guns.

Radar systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), cruise missiles and other modern weaponry were also displayed. Post the parade, there were cultural representatives and delegates from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir who took the breath away with their performances.

Attack helicopters, jets belonging to PAF and armed forces along with Chinese aerobatics team spellbound the audience with their competent performance.

Not only that, but skydivers of airborne units of the three armed forces along with the paratroopers from Saudia Arabia, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka and Bahrain took part in free-fall para trooping.

The ceremony concluded with Sahir Ali Bagga’s performance where he sang his special song Pakistan Zindabad.
