The Lux Style Awards are known to be one of the biggest award shows in Pakistan but like most awards that try to be neutral, they end up becoming controversial. Into their 18th year, LSAs have grown a lot but continue to miss a lot of deserving candidates who deserved a place in at least the nominations. Let’s take a look at some of these people who deserved a nomination but are nowhere to be found.
The biggest miss is in the Best Actor Male category in which Humayun Saeed’s name is not present, however, Ahmed Ali Butt who played a supporting role is nominated for the same film, Jawani Phir Nahin Ani 2. Also, Fahad Mustafa’s performance in the film was the main highlight but he has been nominated for Load Wedding instead.
Moving towards the category of Best Film, the second most successful film of the year Parwaz Hai Junoon isn’t in the category despite doing well around the world. The film’s lead Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir and Hania Amir also missed the cut surprising their fans.
Same is the case with Best Film Director category in which they have not mentioned Adnan Sarwar although his film Motorcycle Girl is there in the Best film category.
We can’t find the popular song Item Number from Teefa in Trouble in the Best Song list which is bad considering Aima Baig and Ali Zafar did a great job in the song, in fact, the whole soundtrack was better than any film released last year.
Moving onto TV, many actors including Syed Jibran, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Faysal Qureshi were snubbed despite giving hit serials during the last 12 months.
And then there is Aangan, the Hum TV serial that began on 20th December but its soundtrack has been nominated when in fact it didn’t even qualify for a nomination.
What is surprising is the fact that LUX girls Mahira Khan and Maya Ali were both not nominated and LUX might have done that to look neutral, despite these stars doing well with 7 Din Mohabbat In and Teefa In Trouble.
