Kalank Trailer: Long Live The Copycats!

With the release of the trailer of Indian film Kalank, Bollywood thinks it has outdone itself but in reality, it has mixed East and West, like the Best. We are not joking but without the trailer of our The Legend of Maula Jatt, the background score of one of the most popular US TV show and an ensemble cast like our very own Aangan, Kalank would have not been possible at all. Don’t believe us … believe them!

First, let’s watch the trailer of Kalank, where you have Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt mesmerizing the audience with their class.

Go back and watch the entry of Varun Dhawan …

And let’s take a look at it from another angle …

And here it is …. the entry sequence of Fawad Khan in The Legend of Maula Jatt …

And voila, on the left is Varun Dhawan, and on the right is Fawad Khan. The trailer of Maula Jatt not just inspired the visuals of Kalank but also the background score seems copied.

Watch the trailer of The Legend of Maula Jatt now:

And that is not all, according to BBC Correspondent Haroon Rashid, Kalank seems inspired from Hum TV’s Aangan, which features an ensemble cast, is a period drama that takes place in the 1940s!

And then there is the background score! While the Indians must be congratulating themselves on a job well done, the Americans must be wondering why the sound seems so familiar. That’s because it has been lifted and Indianized from the popular US TV Show The Flash composed by Blake Neely.

Still believe Karan Johar is a legend? What about the people who contributed to The Legend of Maula Jatt, Aangan and The Flash? Let’s hope that the film doesn’t disappoint when and if it released in Pakistan on 17th April 2019. Till then, we can watch Aangan, and go back in time, Pakistani style!
