Junaid Khan Pays Tribute To The ‘King of Ghazal’ Mehdi Hasan!
It’s been 8 years since the ‘King of Ghazal’ Mehdi Hasan left the world. And upon his 8th death anniversary, renowned singer cum actor of Pakistan Junaid Khan decided to pay a heartfelt tribute to the legend which is now going viral!
The lead singer of a rock band ‘Call’ has been contributing immensely to the Pakistani music industry meanwhile gathering critical acclaims for his singing and acting skills time and time again.
On what would have been the 91st birthday of ‘Mehdi Hasan’, Khan released his rendition of the famous ghazal by Hasan ‘Zindagi Mai Tou Sab Hi’ by adding a little touch of his band. The song was shared on YouTube and Khan has incorporated guitar riffs and drum beats in it.
Khan’s cover has the ideal combination of Eastern and Rock music, as one can easily see the inspiration of the original version within the fusion. And that’s how these renditions should be done that you add your interpretation in it but it should still pay tribute to the original.
While speaking to Dawn images, Khan shared why he selected this ghazal for the tribute.
“This track by Mehdi Hassan is one I was always moved by this track. From the expression, the lyrics, the melody to the way he sang it, it has always been inspiring.”
Khan is the lead vocalist of renowned rock band ‘Call’ that has 2 commercially successful album releases under its belt, namely Jilawatan and Dhoom.
Like his singing career, he has made a name for himself in acting as well, by portraying his acting skills in some hit dramas, like Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Mujhay Roothnay na Daina, Yahan Pyar Nahi hai, Firaaq, among others.
Khan’s popularity levels rose to the top by his critically acclaimed performance in the hit serial ‘Sun Yaara.’
His recent appearances in unconventional acting roles in dramas including Yaariyan, Ishq Tamasha, and others are liked by the viewers as well.
