The showbiz industry in Pakistan is currently divided into two camps – to boycott or not to boycott the LSAs to be held later this year.
Both parties have their reason. The party against LSA has a point of view to put a firm stand against sexual harassment and objectifying women. They don’t want to share the nominations platform with alleged sexual harassers. Until such allegations are proven it is not correct to vilify any person. This is the view of the other camp.
“Those who find credence in the victim’s allegations have boycotted the event, those in favor of the alleged persons feel that every person is innocent until proven guilty.”
Those who find credence in the victim’s allegations have boycotted the event, those in favor of the alleged persons feel that every person is innocent until proven guilty. In all this drama, comes a vague press release from Lux Style Awards that makes the matter all the more complicated.
“The press release by LSA seeks to claim neutrality without clearly laying down any policy.”
The press release by LSA seeks to claim neutrality without clearly laying down any policy. Hollywood bigwig Harvey Weinstein faced similar allegations as well. He was dealt with accordingly even before the trial began.
In fact, Academy Awards, BAFTA and others suspended renowned singer Bryan Singer. They wanted him to come clean before accepting him back.

Even in neighboring India, many have raised objection over the casting of Alok Nath in Ajay Devgan’s De De Pyar De. The actor has responded today.
However, in Pakistan, we have people including the jury of LSA defending an alleged sexual harasser. This is only because he is a big name. Above all, a big draw when it comes to award ceremonies.
The organizers have taken a clear stance behind all the decisions in instances mentioned above. It is based on the disgust and zero tolerance against such acts and massive public sentiments.
The alleged persons might be innocent but at the same time may also be guilty. The organizers should state a very clear policy and stand on such instances and simply claiming the 5th may not be the best way forward.
I'm sorry but you can't pretend to be all woke and shit one year and next year jab uss hi issue ki baat ho toa hide behind corporate opaqueness. Things have meaning, symbols have power. The LSAs used #MeToo to boost their brand so now they should also be held accountable.
