England beat Bangladesh, Kiwis Down Afghanistan In ICC Cricket World Cup

England and New Zealand had a field day in the ICC Cricket World Cup where they downed Bangladesh and Afghanistan respectively. It was England’s second win in three matches, while Kiwis have won all three matches.

Jason Roy’s 153 helped England post highest total in ICC Cricket World Cup

In the first match of the day, England managed to post the highest total in the ICC Cricket World Cup. Thanks to Jason Roy’s 153, the hosts had a defendable total at hand against Bangladesh.

Bairstow, Buttler also chipped in with half-centuries

Jonny Bairstow and Jason Buttler also scored half-centuries in the mammoth total. England ended the innings at 386 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan’s century in vain as Bangladesh falter

Chasing 387 runs to win, Bangladesh lost quick wickets until Shakil Al Hasan took the center stage. The all-rounder scored a courageous century but it wasn’t enough as no other batsmen crossed 50. Shakib managed 121 runs off 119 deliveries and with his dismissal, Bangladesh’s hopes of a win ended.

Archer, Stokes took three wickets each in ICC Cricket World Cup match

New Zealand also had it easy against Afghanistan

In another match, New Zealand cruised to a seven-wicket victory against Afghanistan at Taunton. Not only did they bowl out the minnows for 172 runs, but the Kiwis also achieved the target for the loss of 3 wickets. Hashmatullah Shahidi’s 59 went in vain as seven players were unable to enter double digits while batting.

It was a Jimmy Neesham kind of a day

Kiwi pacer Jimmy Neesham was the star for the team from Down Under as he ended the match with 5 wickets. Lockie Ferguson also chipped in with 4 Afghanistan batsmen’s scalps.

New Zealand lost three wickets in their successful chase
