Former Chief Justice of Pakistan And His Cluelessness On Spot Decisions
After the controversial statement of the Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Retired Saqib Nisar that the dam fund was only created for awareness, here comes another issue which is not been highlighted – the exorbitant fee structure of the medical colleges of Pakistan for medical students belonging to the middle class.
The former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was famous among the people due to his on spot judgments and on spot actions, mostly for the betterment of his fellow countrymen. He tended to take the notice of even small issues which were neglected by his predecessors.
However, one of his ‘on spot’ decisions have now become unbearable – the decision to keep the exact same fee structure of medical and dental colleges for everyone. It came as a shock for the middle-class community because the colleges which were charging less and helping students become doctors for a lesser fee have now become out of their reach. On the other hand, most of the medical colleges that were charging higher now have increased their prices as there is no one to monitor the change.
Now that people are raising eyebrows on the former Chief Justice’s confession about the dam fund, it is being considered that all the decisions which took place during his tenure, were all for the attention of the media as these steps made him one of the most popular figures in the country, even though the result was zero plus zero.
The former Chief Justice, whose own grandchild was studying in England when he was taking decisions without realizing its repercussions to a middle-class family, didn’t even think twice regarding how a middle-class person will cope with the increased fee structure. The issue may not have been important for him but it would be great if his successor Asif Saeed Khosa takes notice of the injustice because it is the question of the country’s future.
