Tania Aidrus resigns from Google to serve her country!
Pakistan is on the verge of becoming a paper-free country and we can’t be happier. However, for Digital Pakistan to become a reality, we must thank Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as another person who quit her job abroad to serve her country. Yes, we are talking about Tania Aidrus who returned to Pakistan after 20 years, to lead Pakistan into Digitalisation.
Tania also resigned from Google where she was serving as a Senior Executive and moved back to Pakistan to head the ‘Digital Pakistan’ Initiative.

Tania Aidrus has identified five key areas where the government has to work hard in order to make the country paper-free. The first and the foremost is the access and connectivity, and she explained it well with examples:
“A soldier posted in Siachen gets one opportunity a week to speak to his family members,” she said. “I want to ensure that whenever he connects to his family via a video call, he is able to do so without any issues.”
The second key area according to her is upgrading the whole country’s digital infrastructure:
“Just like you need the road infrastructure in a country, Pakistan needs a digital infrastructure,” she said. “To advance in the tech world, we need to have a digital infrastructure in place.”
She also adds that in order to make E-Governance possible, the government must promote transparency:
“The best way to ensure transparency is to digitize government processes. Nowadays people have a tremendous amount of difficulty when it comes to land documentation and other processes. We need to digitize these.”
The fourth key area is to give digital training and skills, as students in Pakistan lack technological skills.
And finally, she adds that the government needs to work on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
“We need to create an environment where entrepreneurship and innovation takes place. The government needs to make it easy for investors and entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan. We need to attract companies that are worth billions of dollars.”
Tania Aidrus concluded with the message for the skeptics saying:
“To the skeptics I say, it is not a question of whether we will succeed or not. It is a question of how quickly we can.”
