England Outclass India, End Unbeaten Run To Revive Semi-Final Hopes

England Outclass India To Keep The World Cup Open!

Some say the Indians lost the match to hurt Pakistan, others say that England managed to outclass India to stay alive in the mega event. Whatever the reasons, the tournament is now open for the top six teams, including Bangladesh who fancy their chances of reaching the semifinals for the first time.

Jonny Bairstow couldn’t have timed his century better

England’s opening batsman Jonny Bairstow smashed a brilliant 111 when the chips were down for his side. Ben Stokes’ 79 and Jason Roy’s 66 also helped England tear apart the famed Indian bowling to post 337-7 on an Edgbaston batting paradise. Besides Mohammad Shami (5-69) and Jasprit Bumrah (1 wicket), no Indian bowler was able to contain the host team and went for runs.

England outclass India in all department to win the match by 31 runs

Chasing 338 runs to win was always going to be tough for India who was without injured Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit Sharma tried his best to score heavily but after smashing his third hundred of the tournament, he was out for 102 and with him took India’s hope for a win. Virat Kohli who added 138 runs for the second wicket with Rohit was unlucky to get dismissed at 66. His fifth successive half-century went in vain as India finished its 50 overs on 306-5.

England gain two crucial points to enter the top four, again!

The World Cup is still open as England gained two crucial points after their win against India. The Aussies are on top with 14 points while India and New Zealand share the second and third spots with 11 points each. India still has one match to go while Pakistan is at number 5, with 9 points. The Men In Green will have to beat Bangladesh convincingly to break back into the top four, and depend on other teams’ result to qualify for the semi-finals.
