Disappointing Pakistan Destroyed As Australia Take Series

They came, they played and they lost; Pakistan’s miserable series ahead of the World Cup continues as Australia destroyed the second-string Pakistan team by 80 runs to take a three-nil lead in the five-match ODI series in the United Arab Emirates. Led by Shoaib Malik, the team that is being dubbed as the B Squad of Pakistan, first failed as a bowling unit, then disappointed as a batting side and continued to be sloppy in the field for no specific reason.

After electing to bat first, Australia managed to score 266 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs, thanks to Skipper Aaron Finch’s steady 90 off 136 balls and Glenn Maxwell’s quickfire 71 off just 55. Haris Sohail, Usman Shinwari, Imad Wasim, Junaid Khan and Yasir Shah took a wicket each, whereas the fastest of ’em all Mohammad Hasnain went for 50 runs off his 5 overs.

Chasing 267 runs to win the match and make a comeback in the series, Pakistan started off miserably; opening batsman Shan Masood and in-form Haris Sohail and Mohammad Rizwan went cheaply; Imam ul Haq and Shoaib Malik batted for a place in the team than for the team and by the time Umar Akmal (36) and Imad Wasim (43) steadied the team, the battle was as good as over.

The whole Pakistani side managed to score just 186 runs in 44.4 overs, without once trying to go for a win. Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors and ended up with 4 wickets for 43 runs; Pat Cummins was second best with 3 wickets for 24 runs. The next match of the series will be played on Friday at Dubai, with the last and final match two days later at the same venue.
