CWC 19 – Senior batsmen help teams win matches in an emphatic manner

India won their first match while New Zealand became the first team to make it two out of two in the CWC 19. India owed its success against South Africa to centurion Rohit Sharma; for New Zealand Ross Taylor was the architect of victory against Bangladesh.

South Africa continues to disappoint in CWC 19

South Africa continued its pathetic performance in CWC 19, posting just 227 runs against India. It was only due to Chris Morris’ 42 that the Proteas were able to post a defendable total after winning the toss. On the other hand, Bangladesh had a great match against the Kiwis. They managed to post 244 runs on the board due to Shakib Al Hasan’s heroics who ended with 64 runs. Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for Kiwis with 4 wickets for 47 runs.

It was left to the genius of Ross Taylor whose 91-ball 82 was instrumental in New Zealand’s victory. Despite losing quick wickets in the latter half of their innings, Mitchell Santner kept his cool to hit the winning runs in the 48th over.
