A few days back, Sadia Imam sparked a debate on the internet after she claimed that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan did not give her credits for writing the lyrics of two of his most popular songs. However, the co-composer of ‘Jiya Dhadak Dhadak’ has recently denied Sadia Imam’s claim over the lyrics of the super hit song.
Sadia Imam revealed in an interview that she had written the lyrics for RFAK’s ‘Jiya Dhadak Dhadak’ from Bollywood movie Kalyug (2005) and ‘Zindagi Ye Safar Mein Hai’ from Life in a Metro (2007). Both these timeless songs are still highly popular among the audience.
Here’s what Sadia Imam said:
“I gave the lyrics to Rahat and the onus of giving me credits depended on his ethical values. Had I been given credits, both the songs would have remained under my name forever.”
Sadia added that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is her good friend so it did matter to her when she was not given the credits.
“Rahat told me that Sadia Ji, I cannot give you credits because he did not show in India that the lyrics were written by a Pakistani.”
After Sadia Imam’s interview made the headlines, it started a debate on social media.
According to The Express Tribune, the co-composer of ‘Jiya Dhadak Dhadak’ has now responded to Sadia Imam’s claim over lyrics.
Faisal Rafi, the co-composer of Jiya Dhadak Dhadak, said that Imam’s claims are “baseless”. He also revealed that he was a part of the song-making process throughout.
Here’s what Faisal Rafi has to say about Sadia Imam’s claim:
“These are baseless claims. The entire song was made in my presence. Rahat came up with the melody in a taxi. We then went to Rohail’s place where he arranged and made the music for the Bollywood hit single.”
Faisal also added that lyricist Asim Raza is the actual man behind the song.
“Lyricist Asim Raza was then called in to pen down the lyrics which he did then and there, while sitting at Rohail’s place.”

Salman Ahmed, RFAK’s business director, says that Sadia Imam is ‘more than welcome to present any proof!
“It is in bad taste that when the whole world is celebrating Khan Saheb’s Doctorate from Oxford University, Ms. Imam would bring up something like this, that too after so many years.”
“Even if she still claims that she is the brain behind penning the songs then she is more than welcome to present any proof, confirming the same.”
