Canadian Model Withdraws Harassment Case, Feels Safe In Pakistan

Canadian Model Asoomii Jay who had filed the complaint claiming that she was sexually harassed by two men in Islamabad has withdrawn her case against the offenders.

She disclosed the news in her video message where she informed that she has identified the criminals, however; she would like to withdraw her case by expressing the gratitude of the timely action by Pakistani higher authorities. She further claimed in her video message that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and she feels safe in Pakistan.

She elaborated, “I have dropped all charges after I received a sincere apology because I truly believe in the concept of “it takes a village to raise a child” when I found out these boys were young and their families were being tormented, I understood their parents will deal with them at home for bringing shame.”

“The abuse I continue to get from some men and women is appalling. Rather than using my platform and working together for the future of our daughters in Pakistan, they also want to silence me and keep telling me that my help is unwanted. I pray intellect prevails and we women can work together to bring change,” she said.

She thanked the Police of Pakistan and the initiative by the PM Imran Khan’s Pakistan Citizen Portal, which helped her raising her voice to the higher officials to take an action regarding such an offensive act.

Earlier this week Jay was persistently harassed by two men who tried to stop her cab in the middle of the road and asked her to sit in their car due which she had to take refuge in the mall.
