Bangladesh Bowled Out For 233 On The First Day At Rawalpindi

Test Cricket was the winner in Rawalpindi

They came, they batted and were bowled out for 233. That’s the Bangladesh Cricket team for you on the first day of the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan. In a Test series that is divided into two parts, the visitors looked clueless against Pakistan’s bowling attack. They could have played better and scored more runs but perfect line and length from the pacers didn’t let them.

Bangladesh played 825 overs for 233

It was a good toss to win for Pakistan Captain Azhar Ali who went into the match with an unchanged squad. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Abbas bowled well and were supported by Naseem Shah as they shared 7 wickets to fall. Shaheen was the pick of the bowlers with as many as 4 wickets while Abbas managed two. Fielders held onto catches for a change although some including Haris Sohail dropped a few. He, however, made it up with two crucial wickets as Bangladesh ended the first day at 233 runs all out before bad light stopped play.

Fawad Alam made to sit again, Yasir Shah continues to disappoint!

Senior batsman Fawad Alam had to sit out again to make way for Haris Sohail but it was Yasir Shah who disappointed big time. His bad form is stretching with every game and it seems that he wants to be kicked out of the side. Neither did he fail to take a wicket but he gave away runs on a wicket where batsmen were having problems.

Pakistan needs to start on a positive note in Rawalpindi

233 runs in the first innings may not seem much but Pakistan’s batting is always suspect to a collapse. One hopes that opening batsman Abid Ali who scored two centuries in his first two Tests continues his good form and scores another one. If he manages to do so, he will equal Indian batsman Azharuddin’s record of three centuries in the first three Tests, something no one has been able to do. But Abid Ali who is the only batsman in the world to score debut tons in Tests and ODIs is confident that he would be able to equal the world record and make his country proud.
