Young anchorperson Mureed Abbas was shot dead on Tuesday in Karachi in a reportedly targeted attack.
The prominent TV anchor was attacked in Khayaban-e-Bukhari area alongside his friend Khizer, who also died after initially being injured.
As per the initial reports, the murder could be a result of a personal feud reportedly related to money.

According to South SSP Shiraz Nazeer, Mureed Abbas and Khizer were standing at a roadside when a gunman in a car opened fire on them. Both of them died on their way to the hospital.
The body was taken to Jinnah hospital and he received two bullets on his torso according to Dr. Seemin Jamali, the executive director of Jinnah hospital.
Dr. Seemin Jamali added that the bullet that hit him on the chest proved fatal.
According to Police, the attacker has been identified as Atif Zaman, who was Mureed Abbas’s family friend. After attacking Mureed and Khizer, Atif Zaman attempted suicide and was also taken to the hospital.

A video of Mureed Abbas’s wife Zara Abbas Khar is also circulating on the internet in which she’s has accused Atif Zaman of killing her husband.
Zara, who is also an anchorperson, said that Atif called Mureed at 8:05 pm to collect their due money. She added that they invested money in a business and Atif was not returning their money.

According to ARY News, the alleged killer Atif Zaman has shot himself inside his house during a police raid in Karachi.
Police officials told media that the prime suspect of Mureed Abbas Khar and Khizer’s murder case is Atif Zaman who gunned down both persons after calling them at his office in Khayaban-e-Bukhari neighbourhood of Karachi’s DHA area today.
The officials said:
“The alleged killer has shot himself when a police team arrives in at his residence situated at Khayaban-e-Nishat neighbourhood in DHA area.”
Other pictures have also surfaced on the internet showing that Mureed Abbas and Atif Zaman were close friends.
Police have started the investigation and they are also recording the eyewitness statements. They also assured that CCTV cameras in the area will also be checked.
Sindh Inspector-General Dr. Kaleem Imam has taken notice of the anchorperson’s murder. According to a statement, the IG has directed the South DIG to form special teams to arrest the attacker.
The whole country is saddened by this unfortunate incident that cost 3 lives. People are sending their condolesnces to the family of the deceased and want Police to take immediate actions.
