All-Round Shakib Outclassed Afghanistan With Both The Bat And The Ball

It was an impressive display of Shakib Al Hasan’s all-round skills that proved too much for the Afghanistan team. When they batted, he scored a fifty and when they batted, he took five wickets to become the second player to do so in a World Cup.

Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan Were In Prime Form!

Some teams never learn and Afghanistan Captain Gulbadin Naib didn’t learn from Sarfaraz Ahmed’s mistake of chasing against a better bowling attack. They put Bangladesh in, only to find them scoring 262 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored with 83 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan contributed a valuable 51.

Only Two Afghanistan Bowlers Looked Threatening

Afghani Bowlers didn’t go for runs and managed to take wickets regularly. However, only Mujeeb ur Rehman (3 wickets) and Gulbadin Naib (2 wickets) looked threatening as the rest went for a lot of runs.

Afghanistan Was In The Game In First 10 Overs!

The Afghan Openers provided their side with a 49-run opening stand in 10 overs, and they looked threatening in the beginning. As soon as Shakib Al Hasan entered the scene, the match tilted in favor of Bangladesh and stayed that way till the end. He ended with figures of five wickets for 29 runs and sealed the fate of the match in his side’s favor.

All-round Shakib Becomes Second Player To Cross 50, Take 5 Wickets in A World Cup

It was Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s day against the mediocre Afghanistan Team. He became the second player after Yuvraj Singh to score a fifty and take five wickets in the same World Cup match. He not only sent back five Afghanis to the pavilion but accounted for key Afghan batsmen in the process.

All-round Shakib Ensures Afghanistan Exit From Semi-Final Race

After losing yet another match in the World Cup, Afghanistan’s chances of reaching the semi-finals went down the drain. They have no point after 7 matches which means that they join South Africa as the second team that has no chance to even think about qualifying to the next round.
