Yasir Shah scores 113 while batting at number 8 in Adelaide Test
It was an eventful day at Adelaide Test where Australia enforced a rare follow-on, making Pakistan bat again in the second innings. But not before Babar Azam and Yasir Shah defied the hosts by scoring 105 runs for the seventh wicket. Yasir Shah then continued his good form by adding another 87 runs for the ninth wicket, making sure Australia had to wait to bowl again.
Adelaide Test – Australia dismiss Pakistan for 302 in first innings
Mitchell Starc continued his outstanding form against Pakistan, taking six wickets in an innings in Adelaide. He not only accounted for the in-form Babar Azam but also dismissed Shaheen Afridi the next ball. Babar Azam was batting well with Yasir Shah but was unlucky to miss his consecutive century by 3 runs. His dismissal at 97 demoralized Pakistan but Yasir Shah was in another mood today.
Yasir Shah makes Adelaide Test memorable with a maiden century
The leg-spinner batted aggressively and carried the innings a good lower-order batsman would. His 87 run stand with Mohammad Abbas (29 runs) delayed Australia’s chances of batting again in favorable conditions. By the time he was dismissed for 113, Pakistan had scored 302 runs, and more than half of the third day was gone. His innings was important as it showed his teammates how to bat under lights in a Test match, yet they faltered again in the second innings.
Rain ends Pakistan’s misery on the third day in Adelaide
The third day of the second Test ended prematurely because of rain, with Pakistan needing another 248 runs to save themselves from a consecutive innings defeat. Shan Masood (14 runs) and Asad Shafiq (8 runs) were unbeaten at the crease, with Imam ul Haq bagging a duck, Azhar Ali scoring just 9 and Babar Azam perishing for 8 runs. Mitchell Starc has so far taken 7 wickets in the match and would be hoping to add another three to make it 10 in a match. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be hoping for continuous rain for consecutive days, because that’s the only thing that can save them.
